| Apr.01 | Tucker | Avery | NYR |
Our
pest vs. theirs: Both were yapping at each other as they lined up
together before the puck dropped. As soon as the puck hit the ice
Tucker dropped his gloves and went at Avery, who looked like he was
going to chicken out. Avery ended up dropping his mitts and the
fight started. Avery got in a quick jab at the beginning, then
Tucker landed a BOMB straight to Avery's head, sending his helmet flying
off. Then both started trading good rights, although Tucker was
semi-protected by his helmet which somehow ended up in front of his
face. Avery landed a right to Tucker's armpit at the end and
Tucker fell backwards to the ice. Good fight by both... probably a
draw, although that one shot but Tucker at the beginning was a hard one. |
| Mar.20 | Belak | Janssen | NJ |
Belak
was the only one throwing the punches for the first part of the
scrap, but Janssen started throwing back. Unfortunately for
Cam, Belak held him at arms length and Janssen had trouble
connecting. Janssen seemed to have more steam in him as the
fight wore on, and Wade seemed tired, looking like his arms had
turned to rubber, and eventually went down from sheer exhaustion at
the end. This fight had a lot of media hype leading up to it -
because of the Janssen's dirty hit on Kaberle the last time these teams
met (sending Kaberle out of the lineup with a concussion and Janssen out
of the lineup with a suspension) |
| Mar.17 | Tucker | Bouillon | Mtl |
After
the Leafs finished a rush, the whistle blew and both teams gathered in a
scrum near the corner in the Montreal end. Tucker and Bouillon
managed to get paired off and broke away from the group throwing
punches. Both players were throwing lots of punches with little
defense in this fight. Bouillon had his face shield on most of the
fight, but Tucker finally got it off at the end and got another shot in
as the linesmen broke in, but Bouillon threw more punches during the
fight. |
| Feb.10 | Newbury | Petrovicky | Pit |
Started
off the puck drop for no apparent reason. Both started throwing
rights with no defense whatsoever, then Petrovicky landed one that
stunned Newbury, another, then another that sent him down backwards to
the ice. The back of Newbury's head smacked hard on the ice when
he fell, knocking him out cold (if not by the punch). |
| Feb.08 | Newbury | Brookbank | Nsh |
Newbury
looked more in control during the fight. Both had a hold on each
other with one hand using the other to throw punches, but Brookbank
managed to keep his helmet on, causing Newbury's punches to smash
against it each time - ouch! Newbury picked up Brookbank at the
end and slammed him to the ice. It's hard to watch someone bashing
their hands against someone's hard helmet over and over! |
| Jan.30 | Ponikarovsky | Tanabe | Car |
Both
threw a couple long ones at each other while they were spinning around
then Ponikarovsky dragged Tanabe down. |
| Jan.20 | Green | Talbot | Pit |
These two went at it right after the puck dropped at
the faceoff. Yet again both players fell to the ice quickly. |
| Jan.20 | Gill | Thoburn | Pit |
Started in the corner. Gill had a manhandle on
Thorburn but both slipped to the ice shortly after it started. |
| Jan.20 | McCabe | Thorburn | Pit | Both players fell to the ice as soon as they grabbed on to each other. Hardly a roughing penalty. |
| Jan.18 | Belak | Allen | Fla |
Both players are the same size and were pretty evenly
matched. Short fight. Allen landed a right towards the end,
then Belak landed short hard rights dropping Allen to finish it. |
| Jan.11 | Belak | Peters | Buf |
Peters wanted to fire his team
up as they were loosing to Toronto in the 3rd, at home.
Happened after the puck dropped and they squared off. Belak
had an arm free the whole fight and was throwing jabs with his left,
and swinging with his right. Peters helmet went off early but
he tried to throw a few but was kept off balance by Belak for most
of the fight. At the end Peters guard was down for a split
second and Belak landed a good shot right to his face, dropping
Peters to the ice. |
| Jan.06 | Ondrus | Mair | Buf |
These two squared off and
grabbed a hold of each other while twirling around wildly and
throwing long rights. None connected, until Mair threw a long
right which Ondrus ducked, then came back quick while Mair was off
balance from throwing the punch, and landed 2 lefts while Mair was
being sent to the ice. |
| Jan.04 | Bell | Donovan | Bos |
In the game where Toronto beat Boston 10-2, the
Bruins were looking for anything to get out their frustrations, so this
fight started out of a scrum of 2 other players that were about to go.
Donovan looked to have position on Bell and got his jersey up, but Bell
managed a quick right at the end which opened up a large gash on the
nose of Donovan who left the ice bloodied. |
| Dec.29 | Ondrus | Ruutu | Pit |
|
| Dec.23 | Belak | Brashear | Wsh |
Belak went with his lefts (Brashear is a lefty) and must
have suprised Brashear. Belak got some quick shots in at the
beginning, then Brashear started grappling/hugging, and got some jabs
in, as did Belak. Belak was fighting with a handful of stitches
between his eyes due to a stick in the face the night before. Good
fight for Belak. |
| Tucker | Sutherby | Wsh |
Tucker got a good left in at the beginning of the fight,
then both started trading wild punches. Sutherby looked to have
landed more, but neither player looked worse for the wear (although
Tucker might have had a bit of a bloody nose). |
|
| Dec.16 | Belak | Orr | NYR |
|
| Nov.30 | Battaglia | Coburn | Atl |
Happened after the Leafs drove to the Atlanta net.
Not much in the way of landed punches as both players had a good hold on
to each other, but nice to see a non-fighter drop the gloves! |
| Nov.25 | Tucker | Mara | Bos |
Tucker was racing against 6'9" Chara for the puck and
smashed the big guy into the boards knocking him down. Then all
the Bruins started swarming around Tucker, who threw a punch at one,
then dropped the gloves and went at it with Mara. Mara got some
shots in then Tucker got control of him and wrestled Mara to the ice. |
| Nov.18 | Belak | Janssen | NJ |
|
| Nov.05 | Belak | Peters | Buf |
Long fight but very sloppy.
Both players were holding each other at such a distance that neither
could reach the other with their punches. |
| Oct.25 | Tucker | Eaves | Ott | Tucker went into the boards to hit Eaves, after that went right after him and just started throwing punches. Eaves quickly dropped his gloves and fought back, but Tucker got his arm free of his jersey and landed 2 or 3 solid shots to Eaves' jaw, buckeling his legs and sending him to the ice. How Tucker didn't get an instigator is anyone's guess. Pics here. |
| Belak | McGrattan | Ott | Started right off the face-off. Both were holding each other at a distance with McGrattan standing tall trying to throw overhand shots while Belak stayed low (almost Domi-like) going for uppercuts. Neither player landed anything hard except for some helmet shots, but Belak got out of position at the end and McGrattan hit the back of Belak's helmet a few times as Belak slipped to the ice. Pics here. | |
| Oct.05 | Belak | McGrattan | Ott | Started away from the play. Neither player did anything wrong to the other to start it - they just wanted to scrap. Both players had their punching arms cocked the entire fight, but were holding each other to far away to really connect. Belak did some nice Domi-Jabs with the hand he was holding on to, but nothing serious. A draw. Pics here. |
| Sep.18 | Ondrus | Thorburn | Buf | Not sure why this started but both were throwing some hard punches with a few landing. Ondrus seemed to be in more control during the fight. Thorburn left the ice bleeding from the forehead. Pics below. |
| Tucker | Mancari | Buf | Mancari was quite a bit larger than Tucker but Darcy held is own, with both players landing 1 hard punch. Tucker ended up on top at the end, although that doesn't really say anything about the fight. Pics below. | |
| Sep.20 | Ondrus | Maloney | Ott | Came about due to a hit along the boards. Mostly scuffling. Pics below. |
| Newbury | Potulny | Ott | Newbury was in control during this fight throwing some hard but somewhat clumsy left hands. Pics below. | |
| Sep.27 | Brown | McGrattan | Ott | Many were probably thinking before the fight that Brown was in big trouble here with McGrattan, but after a bit of waiting each other out, they both latched on and started throwing long punches. Both landed some glancing blows, and both missed with some bigger bombs, but Brown managed to catch McGrattan's left eye, cutting him open. Pics here. |
| Gill | Neil | Ott | This started up along the boards after a whistle stopped the play. Gill is much bigger than Neil, but Neil held in tight and managed to escape non worse for the wear, although there were a few seconds where Neil was being punched repeatedly in the back/side of the head by Gill. Pics here. |
Sep.18, 2006 - Ondrus vs. Thorburn
Not sure why this started but both were throwing some hard punches with a few
landing. Ondrus seemed to be in more control during the fight.
Thorburn left the ice bleeding from the forehead.

Sep.18, 2006 - Tucker vs. Mancari
Mancari was quite a bit larger than Tucker but Darcy held is
own, with both players landing 1 hard punch. Tucker ended up on top at the
end, although that doesn't really say anything about the fight. Apparently
the cut Tucker received was one he already had that re-opened during the fight.

SEP.20 - Ondrus vs. Maloney
Came about due to a hit along the boards. Mostly scuffling.

SEP.20 - Newbury vs. Potulny
Newbury was in control during this fight throwing some hard but somewhat
clumsy left hands.
